Histergan Cream 2% w/w, 25 g

Histergan Cream by Norma contains diphenhydramine hydrochloride 2% w/w, a topical antihistamine. It is intended to relieve minor discomfort from allergic skin conditions, including itchy rashes, stings and insect bites. It is not an insect repellent.

How to use Histergan Cream

Apply sparingly to the affected area. Use no more than twice a day and do not use for longer than three days unless a healthcare professional advises you otherwise. This cream is for external use only. Wash your hands after applying it unless your hands are the treated area. Follow the leaflet supplied with your pack.

When not to use it

Do not use Histergan if you are allergic to diphenhydramine or any of its ingredients, on eczema, on broken skin or skin with wet discharge, at the same time as another product containing diphenhydramine, or in children under 6 years. Keep it away from the eyes, nose and mouth. Apply sparingly and avoid prolonged or repeated use, especially over large areas. The cream contains propyl hydroxybenzoate, which may cause delayed allergic reactions.

Warnings and ingredients

Stop use and seek medical advice if burning, a rash or worsening symptoms occur. Contact a doctor if the condition does not improve after a few days. Accidental swallowing or excessive use can cause drowsiness or sedation; seek medical advice immediately. Skin may become more sensitive to sunlight. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, ask a healthcare professional before using any medicine. Store below 25°C and keep out of reach of children.

Each 25 g tube contains diphenhydramine hydrochloride 2% w/w. Other ingredients listed in the leaflet are propyl hydroxybenzoate, liquid paraffin, emulsifying wax and purified water.
