Brufen 400 mg effervescent sachets

Each sachet contains 400 mg ibuprofen in effervescent granules. According to the corresponding Brufen 400 mg effervescent-granule leaflet, this short-term pain and fever medicine is intended for adults and adolescents over 12 years who weigh at least 40 kg. The pack shown contains 20 sachets.

How to prepare and take a sachet

Empty one full sachet into about 125 ml of water. Stir until bubbling stops and the granules dissolve, then drink immediately. Do not divide a sachet. The leaflet gives one sachet as a dose, up to three times daily at intervals of 4–6 hours; do not exceed three sachets (1,200 mg) in any 24 hours. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time. Follow the leaflet supplied with your local pack.

Important safety information

Each sachet contains 2,222 mg sucrose and 131 mg sodium. Ask a healthcare professional before use if you have diabetes, sugar intolerance or a sodium-restricted diet. Do not take ibuprofen if you are allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin or another NSAID; have or have had a stomach or intestinal ulcer or bleeding; have severe kidney, liver or heart disease, active bleeding or significant dehydration; or are in the last three months of pregnancy. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if you take other medicines, have a long-term condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are unsure whether ibuprofen is suitable. Ask a doctor if fever lasts more than 3 days or pain more than 5 days. Adolescents should seek advice if use is needed for more than 3 days or symptoms worsen.
