MIMS Malaysia - Rupafin 1 mg/ml Oral Solution - 120 ml

Rupafin 1 mg/ml oral solution by MIMS Malaysia contains rupatadine (as fumarate), an antihistamine. This 120 ml oral solution is indicated for symptom relief of allergic rhinitis and urticaria (hives) in children aged 2–11 years. Rupatadine concentration is 1 mg per ml.

Rupafin dosage by weight

Follow the child’s doctor or pharmacist and the leaflet supplied with this exact pack. The product information gives these once-daily doses for children aged 2–11 years:

• 10 kg to under 25 kg: 2.5 ml (2.5 mg rupatadine) once daily.
• 25 kg or more: 5 ml (5 mg rupatadine) once daily.

It may be taken with or without food. Measure with the oral dosing syringe supplied with the bottle; do not estimate a dose with a household spoon. The oral solution is not recommended for children under 2 years, and must not be used below 10 kg according to the patient leaflet. Do not give an adult dose or exceed the prescribed amount.

Important precautions

Do not use if the child is allergic to rupatadine or any ingredient. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if the child has kidney or liver problems, low blood potassium, or a known prolonged QT interval or heart-rhythm concern. Avoid grapefruit juice. Check with a healthcare professional before combining Rupafin with ketoconazole or erythromycin; also mention medicines such as statins, midazolam, or medicines that cause drowsiness. The solution contains sucrose, methylparaben and propylene glycol; check the leaflet for relevant intolerances or precautions, especially for children under 5 years.
