Hospital bag checklist for mom and baby

Hospital Bag Checklist: What to Pack for Mom & Baby

Preparing your hospital bag early makes the final weeks of pregnancy simpler and less stressful. A good rule is to have the essentials ready by around week 36, while keeping personal medical instructions and maternity-hospital requirements in mind.

For Mom

Pack comfortable clothing, maternity pads, nursing bras, breast pads, personal toiletries, a water bottle, phone charger and any documents requested by your maternity unit. If you plan to breastfeed, nipple care and supportive feeding accessories can also be useful.

For Baby

Bring several bodysuits and sleepsuits, a hat, socks, muslin cloths, newborn nappies, gentle wipes or cotton pads, and a blanket suitable for the season. Keep baby's first skincare simple: a mild cleanser and a protective diaper-area product are usually enough for the first days.

For the Trip Home

Prepare the baby's going-home outfit and an approved infant car seat in advance. Keep frequently used items near the top of the bag so you do not have to unpack everything when you need them.
